Topic 1: A wave of new machines with RISC-V processors (e.g., Milk-V) are coming into market and the Parallel Computing group in the department has several of these processors for testing. The main goal of this thesis is to benchmark these new machines for a variety of workloads, from traditional scientific workloads to the "more trendy" algorithms supporting AI applications.
Topic 2: As RISC-V is a relatively new architecture, there are many libraries that are still unavailable for this architecture. We are looking for students with a passion to low-level programming and computer architecture to start porting some of these libraries (e.g., https://github.com/pmem/syscall_intercept)
